Detail Descriptions of Miscellaneous Services

Email Aliases:

An email alias is an email address that simply accepts email and forwards it to another email address. For example, if you had the email address "johnq@email-provider.com", you could request the email alias "jquincy" to forward email to "johnq@email-provider.com". Email correspondents would then be able to email you at "jquincy@svpal.org". The email messages would be forwarded to you email mailbox at "johnq@email-provider.com".

For an email alias you may use any combination of three to twenty-four lower case letters ('a' - 'z'), hyphens (dash '-') or numbers ('0' - '9') -- however the first character must be a letter ('a' - 'z'). The fee for each email alias is $6 per year.

Email Mailing Lists

An email mailing list is convenient way to maintain a list of email subscribers. We use Mailman to implement these mailing lists. Sending a email message to the mailing list address causes the message to be delivered to all of the subscribers of the list. Mailman allows users to automatically subscribe and unsubscribe from your list using a simple web interface, thereby reducing the effort required to maintain the list.  The list may be used to distribute a regular email newsletter, or it may be used as a private discussion area. The owner of the Mailman list is able to control who can subscribe or post messages to the list.
